Day 104-54 : Sunday 6th July,2020

Breakfast: Scrambled Egg, Toast, Bacon Lunch: Beef & Mustard Sandwiches Dinner: Cheeseburgers, Sweetcorn, Baked Potato Dessert: Raspberries, Clotted Cream, Meringue A really windy day, more sun than expected, but amazing to see how Maggie's hard work is paying off.  Here are a few photographs, including our first little harvest.  Samples really of what is to come Testing the Harvest Runner Beans & Flowers The Rose Garden Vegetable Beds The Arches So.,.. after  104 days (15 weeks) we have decided that the lockdown blog is over.  We have enjoyed writing every day and showing how we have eaten, shared some recipes and how we planned and thought about food, probably too much.  We will still post to the blog when we cook something new or special, and perhaps when we entertain.  If you are a subscriber to the blog or you follow on Facebook you will get those notifications. Day 97-47 : Sunday 28th June, 2020

Breakfast: Egg, Bacon, Black Pudding, Mushrooms, Toast Appetiser: Cheesy Baked Potato Skins / Burrata, Tomatoes, Garlic Bread Lunch: Slow Cooked Beef Short Ribs, Cheeseburger, New Potatoes, Coleslaw Dessert: Toffee Popcorn Ice Cream 99's Breakfast: We would usually cook an 'English' breakfast more often, but have not had black pudding to hand. No reason, we just forgot to buy it. It made a nice change BBQ with Lewis & Rachel Table set to shelter from the wind Beef Short Ribs & Cheeseburger Appetiser: Not everyone likes Burrata.  Lewis & Rachel visited today for an afternoon bbq.  Along with Charlie & Millie. Charlie & Millie Lunch: Slow Cooked Beef Ribs.  Cooked carefully these are delicious and meaty.  Make a dry rub of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and a little cayenne.  Rub the ribs with a little Worcestershire Sauce (or Bovril/Marmite) and coat in the dry rub.  Heat the bbq to 120c an...

Day 78-28 : Tuesday 9th June, 2020

Breakfast: Smoked Salmon, Scrambled Egg,  Pumpernickel Toast Elevenses: Coffee at Bedfield Tuesday Coffee Stop Lunch: Gammon Ham & Mustard Sandwich Dinner: Cheeseburger, Baked Potato & Coleslaw Breakfast: Pumpernickel bread, dark brown & slightly sweet. Similar to a bread that is served in The Cheesecake Factory in the US.  Nice with smoked salmon. Bedfield Coffee Stop Cheesecake Factory Brown Bread Elevenses: We visited the Bedfield Sports Hall village shop, post office and Coffee Stop.  The visiting post office is open every Tuesday morning.  There is a small shop selling a few essentials. Our friends Alison & Andrew are very involved and run the little coffee shop where coffee, scones and fancies are available for a donation. Day 60-10 : Friday 22nd May, 2020

Breaklfast:  Boiled Egg, Toast Soldiers Lunch:  Charentais Melon, Salami & Prosciutto Dinner: Cheeseburger, (Hamburger with Marrow Bone) Sweet Potato Fries Breakfast: These egg were from the hens of Steve & Marion.  Lovely colour and taste.  Thank you Charentais Melon Boiled Egg Lunch: Early for melon here but these were ripe and ready at Waitrose, and on offer.  Almost sweet Dinner: Hamburgers from Aldi, with marrow bone.  Very good and cheap (£2.69 for 2).  Every bit as good as the burgers from Waitrose or Marks & Spencer at £4.50 for 2.  Cooked on the new baby Kamado, a perfect size for 2 and a new addition to the kitchen.  It will also be used for example, for a fish starter whilst the main grill is in use Cheeseburgers Also click here for the recipe for Hot Smoked Salmon from yesterday

Breakfast: Boiled Egg & Toast Soldiers Lunch: Ham, Piadina & Pickles Dinner: Cheeseburger, Sweet Potato Fries, Sweetcorn Breakfast: Another of Maggies little egg cup holders Boiled Egg Lunch: Piadina is an Italian flatbread. Traditionally from the Romagna are of Italy. It can be served with Prosciutto, Salad, Italian Sausage & Rocket and a little Cheese, and our favourite Squacquerone di Romagna (a stracciatella cheese - which we have never found outside of Italy) with Rocket Ham & Piadino Cheeseburger Cheeseburger in Brioche Bun Dinner: We have tried making our own burgers, but never been successful.  We can make kofta, meatballs but never hamburger.  So we have shopped around and found our favourites are Gourment Burger from Waitrose  or Aldi Aberdeen Angus quarter pounder
